World Cup skier Lindsey Vonn bruises knee in fall (AP)
World Cup overall and downhill champion Lindsey Vonn bruised her knee when she fell during a routine training session for a super G on Wednesday at Copper Mountain in Colorado. She was taken to U.S. Women's Alpine Ski team doctor William Sterett, who indicated that she suffered a bruised left knee and there was no ligament or cartilage damage.

Lindsey Vonn felt right at home north of the Arctic Circle. Picking up where she left off last season, the defending overall champion won the World Cup slalom opener Saturday. Vonn, a speed specialist from Burnsville, Minn., had never finished among the top three in the slalom before. She called her performance "mind-boggling." Austrian snowboarder Dujmovits out with injury (AP)
Austrian snowboarder Julia Dujmovits will be out for two months after breaking her left ankle and injuring her knee Thursday during slalom training. Dujmovits crashed on the Windachferner course in Stubaital. She was hospitalized in nearby Hochrum, where she was to have surgery later in the day, the Austrian ski federation said.
